Project CAN DO is a positive community initiative helping improve basic life skills, reduce isolation, improve health and wellbeing and build stronger community connections.

Project CAN DO is a tailored programme typically lasting between four to six weeks in a community setting such as a church hall, school or community centre. The programme can focus on general community support, health and wellbeing or community safety.

The weekly 1.5 hour sessions focus on a specific topic with local support services showcasing their services to participants. The sharing of information through these talks as well as group discussions and resources encourages peer support amongst participants. The programme ends with a 'Community Fair' style event with participants receiving self-care goody bags.

The concept of the School Uniform project is very simple but the impact it has is great. Pre-loved, good-quality uniform items for nursery, primary and post-primary schools are donated and are then made freely available for families struggling to afford new uniforms.

Each scheme has dedicated days for families to browse and pick out uniforms. Community venues such as church halls are turned into 'uniform shops' with volunteers sorting donations ensuring those receiving the uniforms will get good wear out of these items. Items include shirts, trousers, skirts, school branded sweatshirts, PE kits, blazers, school bags and shoes.
The initiative is also a good environmental project reducing the number of textiles going to landfill. Above all, the ROC School Uniform Project aims to provide practical support in a dignified and respectful way.

The ROC Winter Coat Project is a pop-up event, spanning one or two days, where high-quality, gently used winter clothing such as coats, hats, scarves and glows are distributed for free.

The project is also a positive environmental initiative aiming o decrease the volume of textiles discarded in landfill. Most importantly, the ROC Winter Coat Project aims to offer practical support in a dignified and respectful way.

In recent years, churches and community groups have successfully hosted the ROC Winter Coat Project in their own unique way.
- During existing activities/events: Coats are displayed at regular gatherings like drop-ins or coffee mornings, allowing people to take what they need.
- Winter Warmer Event: A special community event featuring information stands, refreshments and other activities.
- Winter Coat Project: A temporary transformation of a church hall or community space into a 'coat shop' for 1-3 days, with light refreshments available.

No matter the method you choose to conduct the ROC Winter Coat Project, it's crucial to consider the needs of those you're helping and to promote the core values of dignity and respect.
